formed by two former WRDSB teachers in 1972 as a co-operative alternative,
designed for school board staff and their families. Dennis’ association with

the Waterloo Region District School Board. He served on the ECU Board of
Directors until he assumed the role of General Manager in 1979.

Teaching Students Life Skills
 The
Team-Up program, developed by the Department of Athletics & Recreational
Services at the University of Waterloo, has successfully completed its fourteenth
year.
The Team-Up program is sponsored by the Education Credit Union and is absolutely
free! UofW Athletes visit educational institutions and community groups within
the Region of Waterloo to provide inspirational stories to grade 3-8 students.
In the 2010-2011 year, the Team-Up Program made 69 visits to schools and
community groups within the tri-city area and beyond, speaking to approximately
6,653 students and athletes. This year, 24 new schools participated along
with 45 returning schools.
The feedback received from the Team-Up Evaluation Form indicates that most
teachers have been involved in the program for two to three years, supporting
the idea that the community is highly supportive and satisfied with the program.
It is easy to get involved with the program. Simply call the UW
Athletics Department at 519-888-4567 ext. 37126,
or you can register on-line at www.gowarriorsgo.ca.
Sign up your class, school or team for a visit!
