Use Text Messaging to Get Your Account Info!
By Amy - Headstart Member age 17
When I was young my parents opened a credit union savings account for me. As I got older, I learned how to use the bank card I was given, as well as some basics about MemberDirect online banking. I learned how to manage my money and to be more responsible. When I got a job I began to spend more, but I worried about keeping track of my balance.
Although I knew how to access my funds through the computer, I never seemed to have one around when I needed it. This led me to use telephone banking, but I found it was confusing and time consuming.
Recently, I was asked to test out a new way to do basically everything through MemberDirect Mobile Banking. Mobile banking uses SMS or text messaging to acquire the same information you would using a computer or telephone. You can check your primary account balance – which is my favourite – as well as other account balances and account activity. You can change or disable this feature at any time in case you lose your phone or change your number. And, if you need help, you simply text ‘Help’. This service is a much faster way to get the information you need, it is much easier to remember and operate, and it’s free! Try it.
