The Board of Director Nominees: Coming Soon!

Consider Running for the Board of Directors

As a member of ECU, you believe in the co-operative movement; an organization that is owned and operated by the people it serves. As a result, you are represented by the Board of Directors, who believe in these same values. The election for vacancies on the Board will be held at the Annual General Meeting.

As legislation and requirements impose stricter guidelines on director qualifications, the need to select skilled candidates becomes more important every year.

We are looking for individuals who possess skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Financial Literacy
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Accounting
  • Previous Board Experience
  • Credit Union Operations
  • Industry and Business Knowledge
  • Communications & Public Relations

An ECU Director requires a strong level of competency as detailed by the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario and other regulating bodies. Training is available and can be tailored to elevate proficiencies. Ongoing training is necessary to keep Director skills up-to-date.

Being a Director of a credit union is complex, requiring eligible individuals to understand the roles and responsibilities prior to standing for election at an AGM. It is also important that the membership have advance notice of the candidates and their qualifications.

If you are interested in taking on a role with the Board and becoming more actively involved in your credit union, please contact us at
