Financial Services Representative - Jr.

Position Description

As a part of the ECU team, you are a member of a dynamic retail branch team and play an integral role in the delivery of superior personalized service to our member owners. As an FSR you can fill in at any of the 3 branch locations as required. The first point of contact for people entering our branches, you strive to make members and guests feel comfortable and confident of the benefits available at ECU. You engage our membership through highly effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills and by exceeding expectations. You build relationships by asking probing questions with the objective of developing customized financial solutions that include the referral or sale of our products and services. As a part of the branch network, you effectively respond to member inquiries by maintaining a high level of knowledge relating to our products and services. You manage traffic flow within the branch and aid members as required. You strive for excellence because you know that you play a crucial role in enhancing the financial well-being of our members, and the growth and profitability of our business.

Responsible for participation in, and promotion of the Credit Union in the community. Responsible to contact members for various campaigns and initiatives to promote ECU products and services through proactive outbound telephone calls.

MSR related

  • Responsible for creating quality relationships with Credit Union membership by following the service and selling standards adopted by the Credit Union
  • Responsible to have a general knowledge of all the products and services offered by ECU.
  • Promote and sell all services/products that the Credit Union has to offer.
  • Responsible for scheduling appointments on applicable Outlook calendars.
  • Receiving and referring incoming telephone calls.
  • Greeting visitors and directing members to appropriate areas of the Credit Union.
  • Assist members with banking needs as requested by branch supervisor.
  • Ability to work at any of the 3 branch locations.
  • Provide a variety of routine office administrative support services such as maintaining filing systems, scanning daily work, opening and sorting incoming mail.
  • Pinning of debit cards. Sale of Collabria Visa cards and applying payments for members.
  • May be asked to fill in with the daily counting of cash/verifying of ATM deposits to assist in ensuring dual custody of treasury is maintained at the branch.
  • Responsible for filing of wires and CAFT forms.
  • Responsible to process loan/mortgages and related loan documentation.
  • Responsible to pull paid out loan reports: review, discharge of PPSA and forward on to a loan officer for review.
  • Aid members by opening memberships and accounts, answering questions, and servicing member requests for deposits, withdrawals and transfers.
  • Identify and fulfill members’ financial services needs (prepare official cheques, certified cheques, bill payments, orders cheques, personal money orders and travel insurance, processes RRSP, RRIF, RESP, TFSA, process term deposit transactions, accept applications for plastics (Member Card & Credit Union Collabria Visa credit card).
  • Identify opportunities for referrals to loan and wealth management based on conversation with members.
  • Responsible to become thoroughly familiar with the products and programs using the Legislation and Support manuals provided by Concentra Financial. This includes and is not limited to the following programs:
    • Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSP)
    • Home Buyer’s Plan
    • Lifelong Learning Plan
    • Locked-In RRSP/LIRA
    • Registered Retirement Income Funds (RRIF)
    • Registered Education Savings Plans (RESP)
    • Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA)
  • Review assigned internal reports i.e. Status checking (exceptions), investment renewals and take appropriate action.

Lending related

  • Responsible for compliance with all regulations, by-laws, policies and procedures
  • Responsible to process various lending reports
  • Administration of lending
  • Ability to take lending applications
  • Responsible to perform other duties assigned by the Branch Supervisor.

Qualifications Required

Ideal Candidate:
  • 1 – 2 years of customer service experience, preferably as a Teller/CSR in a banking service type organization. This is an entry level position.
Assets:
  • Experience in investment/lending and with other related banking products and services.
  • Post secondary training and/or diploma in banking/financial planning.
